12/22/2004 10:34 - 433 S. Belmont Road, Paradise Township. A New Holland Concrete boom block truck pulled down live wires while making a delivery.  The driver stayed in the vehicle until PP&L arrived.

12/05/2004 20:49 - 1 Lancaster Ave in Village of Georgetown, Bart Township. 1vehicle accident, vehicle into the structure. The driver missed the corner and ended up on the front porch of the house.

Spill Control from MVA

11/23/2004 16:01 - Intersection of Mine Road & White Oak Rd, Bart Township. Engine 5-1-1's crew controlled the spill hazard & fire police controlled traffic until the arrival of the tow trucks. Yet another of many vehicle accidents at this intersection. Units cleared at 15:57.

MVA with Entrapment

11/02/2004 14:58 - 715 Georgetown Rd, Bart Township. Chief 5-1-2 (Farmer) went en-route and was advised by LCWC of a single vehicle accident with the vehicle into the wall.  Chief 5-1-2 arrived to find a a car into a tennis court wall with 1 patient lying on the ground beside the vehicle and established the command. Engine 5-1-1's crew started patient care until the ALS and BLS crews arrived. The driver hit a large rock and went airborne over the embankment into the fence. Units cleared at 15:57.

MVA with Entrapment

10/08/2004 18:50 - 1667 Georgetown Rd, Bart Township. Chief 5-1-2 (Farmer) arrived & established command. Command advised it was a 2 vehicle accident head on collision with multiple patients.  Engine 5-1-1's crew went to work on stabilization and popped & removed the drivers and passengers side doors.  The crews then assisted EMS personnel with patient removal & packaging. Engine 5-1-2 established a landing zone for the arrival of Penn Star 2 helicopter. 1 patient was flown and 5 were ground transported to local hospitals.  Units cleared the scene at 20:35

Chimney Fire with Extension to Dwelling

09/07/2004 21:30 - Station 5-1 was dispatched to 1211 Georgetown Rd, Bart Township for a chimney fire.  Additional information from LCWC reported smoke coming from the eaves and residents were evacuating. Chief 5-1(LeFevre) arrived to find a working fire and upgraded the assignment to a dwelling box. The upgrade brought a full company out of Station 5-7 Quarryville. Crews advanced 2 lines to the interior, laddered the roof and ventilated smoke from the structure.  Crews found fire in the wall behind a brick cooking stove. Occupants were using the stove earlier in the day for canning. Crews overhauled some interior walls, ceiling & tin roof. Fire was kept to room of origin. Units cleared at 23:00

Farm Rescue -- Silo Collapse

09/13/2004 15:50 - Station 5-1 was dispatched to 434 S. Belmont Rd, Paradise Township for a farm rescue.  Additional information from LCWC reported a subject trapped after a silo collapsed. Crews found a subject trapped in debris.  See related story on WGAL 8 website. Units cleared at 23:00

Tanker & Engine Assist 5-12 on Frey's Evergreen Fire

08/10/2004 11:21 - Tanker 5-1 was dispatched to assist Station 5-12 Willow Street on a multi-alarm at Frey's Evergreen Plantation 123 Lancaster Pike, Providence Twp. The Tanker hauled numerous loads of water to the dump site on 272 along with 14 other Tankers from 3 Counties.

08/10/2004 13:27 - Engine 5-1-2 was dispatched for manpower assist to the scene. Crews assisted in pulling tin & extinguishment.  Units cleared at 17:12 hours.

08/10/2004 17:46 - 183 Oak Bottom Rd, East Drumore Twp. Engine 5-1-1 was dispatched to cover Quarryville Rescue 5-7 (still committed on-scene at Frey's Evergreen fire) on a vehicle accident with entrapment. Chief 5-7-2 Jake Henry was on-scene confirming entrapment and rollover. Engine 5-1-1's crews assisted 5-7's with extrication.  Engine 5-1-1 cleared at 18:11 hours. 

MVA with Dual Entrapment & Dual Confinement

08/08/2004 15:45 - Intersection of Route 896 & Bartville Roads, Bart Township. Chief 5-1-2 (Farmer) arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident 1 vehicle with 2 patients trapped & 2 confined.  Engine 5-1-2 established a rapid landing zone for the arrival of Skycare 1 & Medevac 4.  Engine 5-1-1's crew went to work on extrication & assisted EMS personnel with patient removal. Due to fatigue and lengthily extrication, Rescue 5-7 was requested for additional manpower.  Thanks to all Fire, EMS, Fire Police & Aero-Medical personnel on a job, well done. Units cleared at 18:38 hours.

07/15/2004 11:59 - 1131 Valley Rd. Bart Twp. Report from Co. Dispatch advised caller had a small fire in a shed that he could not put out. Engine 5-1-1's crew arrived to find an oxy-acetylene torch on fire. The crew extinguished the fire & ventilated smoke from the shed.  Units cleared at 12:37 hours.

07/08/2004 17:14 - 468 Dry Wells Rd. Bart Twp. Chief 5-7-2 (Jake Henry) arrived on scene to find a 10 X 20 shed with smoke showing. Crews from 5-1 & 5-7 removed debris that apparently ignited from a lightening strike from a heavy storm that passed through the area. Units cleared at 17:55 hours.

Vehicle Fire in Junkyard

07/06/2004 14:40 - 158 Old Dam Rd, Turner's Towing Bart Twp. Units arrived on scene to find a truck fully involved. The fire started as a result of workers using a cutting torch. Engine 5-1-1's crew made a quick knockdown to prevent the fire from spreading to other vehicles. Units cleared at 15:11 hours.

06/06/2004 14:03 - 417 Rosedale Road in Colerain Twp. Chief 5-1-2 (Farmer) arrived and established command 5-1. Sky flight Care helicopter was requested to the scene. Engine 5-1-1 arrived, stabilized the vehicle & popped the driver's side door. Engine 5-1-2 setup the landing zone. QRS 5-1 assisted the ambulances & medics. Patients transported to local hospital. Units cleared at 15:35 hours.

06/15/2004 05:37 - 2025 Horseshoe Rd. East Lampeter Twp. Book Bindery Associates.  Tanker 5-1 hauled 1 load of water to the dump site. The Tanker cleared at 07:52 hours.

Mobile Home Box

04/26/2004 19:38 - At 19:38 hours, the Bart Fire Co. was alerted for a Mobile Home Fire at 4500 White Oak Rd, Paradise Twp. Units on-scene found there to be a furnace malfunction & heavy smoke condition in the trailer. Crews ventilated smoke & Chief 5-1 held the box to 5-1 & Eng. 4-7-2 Paradise. Units cleared the scene at 20:05 hours

Engine 5-1-1 takes on working fire at Wal-Mart store while on standby at Chester County Station 25 - Longwood Fire Company

03/25/2004 -  Engine 5-1-1 was on a standby assignment for Longwood Fire Co. while they were participating in a full company training pumper relay.  At 18:50 hours, a commercial building box was hit at 516 Schoolhouse Rd off Baltimore Pike, East Marlborough Township. Stations 25 Longwood, 36 Po-Mar-Lin, 24 Kennett Square and 59 Concordville (DE County) were dispatched on the assignment. Chester County Communications advised they had received a pull station alarm, multiple calls with fire from the roof area and they were evacuating the building.  Engine 5-1-1 was first on-scene along with Assistant Chief 25 reporting visible fire from the roof.  Engine 1 hit the hydrant at the storefront entrance and crews stretched a 300 foot 2 inch line inside. Crews encountered heavy smoke conditions in the store & fire in the roof skylight area. Debris was falling from the ceiling and ignited multiple close racks & shelving. Engine 1's crew extinguished the fire as Squirt 25 laddered the roof and checked for extension. Multiple exhuast fans were used to evacuate the smoke from the building. Units cleared the scene at 21:30 hours.

Fire at Local Wal-Mart

In East Marlborough Township, Chester County a fire forced customers out of the Wal-Mart store on Schoolhouse Road. The blaze broke out just after 7:00pm and it is not yet clear what caused it. Crews had the situation under control within an hour and no one was hurt. (Copyright 2004 by Action News. All Rights Reserved

03/16/2004 03:28 -  Vehicle Fire 4900 Block White Oak Rd, Bart Township. LCWC advised a car on fire by the Nickel Mines Pool. Safety 5-1 arrived with a fully involved vehicle as a result of an MVA. Units cleared at 04:32 hours.

Working Dwelling Fire - Tanker Assist Station 5-7

03/14/2004 03:57 -  5-7 Quarryville - Building box was struck at intersection of Scotland Rd & S. Tanglewood Dr., East Drumore Twp. Deputy 5-7 went on-scene with dwelling well off and called for the second alarm.  Tanker 5-1 responded on the second alarm. Engine 5-1-1 was dispatched for the engine relocate to the Station 5-7 house at 04:21 hours.

Dwelling Fire - Assist Station 5-2

03/15/2004 18:52 -  5-2 Christiana - Dwelling box was struck at 134 Jackson Rd, Sadsbury Twp. LCWC reported the homeowner has a fire behind fireplace. Engine 5-1-1, 5-1-2 & Tanker 5-1 crews assisted with the (TIC) Thermal Imaging Camera, removal of fireplace hearth, overhaul & ventilation. Units cleared at 21:19 hours.

03/14/2004 03:57 -  Vehicle Accident with rollover on Route 896 South of Route 372. Occupant was out of the vehicle upon arrival and was treated by EMS. Units cleared at 02:28 hours.

Working Fire in Garage Assist 5-7 Quarryville

03/12/2004 11:15 -  5-7 Quarryville - Dwelling box was struck at 146 Wesley Rd. Colerain Township. Engines 5-1-1 & Tanker 5-1 were due on the box. Engine 5-7-4 arrived with a working garage fire. Engine 5-7-4 laid in & Tanker 5-7 picked up the supply. Fire was in the attic of a detached 3 car garage. Fire was knocked down. Engine 5-1-1 arrived & assisted Station 5-7 in salvage and overhaul. Engine 5-1-2 was dispatched for manpower assist. Units cleared at 13:02 hours. Thanks to Station 5-2 Christiana for providing the Engine company standby.

Electrical Fire Investigation

03/12/2004 03:22 - 5-1 Dwelling box was struck at 1024 Georgetown Rd. Bart Township. LCWC advised homeowner's had electrical burning smell & power problems. Engine 5-1-1 arrived and performed an investigation. All units were held except Station 5-1. Units cleared at 03:56 hours.

Vehicle Fire in Garage

02/23/2004 13:05 -  5-1 Building Box was struck at 1834 Mine Rd. Bart Township. Engines 5-1-1,5-1-2, 4-2-2,5-7-4,5-2-1,Tankers 5-1,5-7,5-2 & Truck 4-2. LCWC advised of a vehicle on fire inside a garage. Engine 5-1-1 arrived and found a car well involved inside a detached garage. Engine 5-1-1 extinguished the blaze and pushed the vehicle "a 1962 Ford Galaxie" outside the garage. Units cleared at 14:09 hours.

Vehicle Accident no-injuries

02/13/2004  20:45 - 5-1 & 4-2 units were dispatched for a vehicle accident with a van on it's side on Mine Rd. unknown location. Chief 5-1-2 (Farmer) went on the scene with a van on its side at 1620 Mine Rd, confirming it was a Station 4-2 local box.  Engine 5-1-1 & Rescue 4-2 arrived and provided stabilization and scene lighting. The van slide sideways on ice and hit a fence row. Units cleared at 21:51 hours.

**Take note in the pictures below the fence board penetrated the rear window glass, then went through the floorboard of vehicle. Luckily no one was injured in this accident!**

Trash Fire

02/09/2004  23:15 - Units were dispatched for a trash fire at 198 Furnace Rd., Bart Township. Chief 5-1 (LeFevre) went on the scene with multiple lumber piles on fire. Engine 5-1-1 arrived and extinguished the fire with our Pro-Pak foam unit. Incident was placed under control at 23:34 hours. Units cleared the scene at 00:14 hours.

02/07/2004  11:03 - Units were dispatched for a vehicle accident standby at the intersection of Route 896 and S. Belmont Rd, Paradise Township. Pickup truck vs. tractor & trailer. Roadway hazards were cleaned up and units cleared at 11:48 hours.
