8/3/2010 - 09:10 - 218 Pinnacle Rd W, Martic Township, Assist Station 5-8 Rawlinsville FC, Tanker 5-1-1.  Tanker 5-1-1 along with a multitude of neighboring units from 3 counties assisted in controlling the fire.  At 10:17 Engine 5-1-2 with 5 was dispatched to assist at the fire scene additional manpower.

Thunderstorms With High Winds Hit The Greater Bart Township Area

7/25/2010 - 14:57 - A large thunderstorm with high winds moved through the area on Sunday afternoon knocking down trees and power lines causing power outage in the area.  Crews spent most of the afternoon, clearing and cutting up trees across the roadway on Mt. Pleasant, Hollow, Quarry, Heyberger, Wilson & Georgetown roads.  Crews also assisted in removing a downed tree from the back roof of the Green Tree Inn.

6/30/2010 - 00:39 - 150 Truce Rd, Providence Township, dwelling, Tanker 5-1-1 assist Station 5-9 Refton FC on a working dwelling.  Captain 5-7 (Neff) arrived reporting a dwelling with heavy fire to the rear.  Engine 5-7-4 1st arriving started fire suppression operations. Additional engines & tankers were dispatched to assist. At 00:45 Engine 5-1-1 was dispatched to relocate Station 5-7 Quarryville FC, when the Engine went enroute LCWC advised to redirect to the fire scene to cover a failed engine.  Tanker 5-1-1 supplied Tanker 5-9 with water while Engine 5-1-1's crew was sent to manpower staging and later assisted with overhaul operations.  Units cleared at 04:02. Late Night MVA -- Engine 1 & Tankers Run 2 Alarm Building Fire in Little Britain Township

6/24/2010 - 01:09 - 5260 White Oak Rd, Bart Township, Vehicle Accident with Unknown Injuries.  Deputy 5-1 (Graybill) arrived to find 1 vehicle on its roof off the roadway with no occupants.  The occupant later returned and was taken in PA State Police custody.  Engine 5-1-1 cleaned up debris, while QRS 5-1 & Ambulance 5-2-1 evaluated the patient and obtained the sign off.

6/24/2010 - 16:07 - 297 Green Lane, Little Britain Township, 2nd Alarm Building, Engine 5-1-1, Tankers 5-1-1 & 5-1-2, Assist Station 5-13 Rpbert Fulton FC.  Deputy 5-13 (Sample) arrived to find a 60 x 40 building well off and requested 2nd alarm resources.  Initial crews made a quick stop on the fire before spreading to the main barn.  Engine 5-1-1 was directed to establish RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) while both tankers stood by for water supply.

6/18/2010 - 06:19 - Intersection Georgetown Rd & Valley Rd, in the Village of Green Tree, Bart Township, vehicle accident..  Deputy 5-1 (Graybill) arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident. Engine 5-1-1 controlled fluids and roadway debris while QRS 5-1, Medic 7-7-9 handled patient care.  later in the day at 13:44 - in front of 6188 White Oak Rd, Sadsbury Township, vehicle accident with possible entrapment, Engines 5-1-1 & 5-1-2.  LCWC advised of a 2 vehicle accident with 1 vehicle head on into a tree. Engine 5-1-1 with Captain 5-1-1 Fisher OIC arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident negative entrapment.. Engine 5-1-1 controlled fluids and roadway debris while QRS 5-1, Ambulance 5-2-1, Medic 7-7-9 & Ambulance 4-3-1 handled patient care

6/4/2010 - 18:46 - 18 Lee Drive, East Drumore Township, assist Station 5-7 Quarryville FC on a dwelling fire, Engine 5-1-1, Tanker 5-1-2 running extra. Chief 5-7 Welk arrived to find smoke pushing from a single story dwelling. Engine 5-7-4 extinguished a fire under the basement steps.  Engine 5-1-1 establish RIT on side alpha and Tanker 5-1-2 stood by in case extra water was needed. The cause of the fire was attributed to a lightening strike from the storm that moved through the area.

Assist Quarryville on 2 Alarm Barn Fire

5/27/2010 - 15:16 - 672 Wesley Rd, East Drumore Township, assist Station 5-7 Quarryville FC on a barn fire, Engine 5-1-1, Tanker 5-1-1 & 5-1-2. Chief 5-7 Welk on Rescue 5-7 arrived on location with an 80' x 40' barn with fire through the roof requesting a 2nd alarm. Fill sites were established at local streams where tankers shuttled water back to the fire scene. Crews attacked the fire with blitz fire and hand lines until Truck 5-7 setup master stream operations.  All crews worked throughout the 80 degree day with the help of track hoes and wrapped up around 10 pm.  Thanks to Station 4-2 Gap FC Engine 4-2-2 for providing the engine company transfer to our station.

5/18/2010 - 16:02 - 800 Mt. Pleasant Rd, Bart Township, vehicle accident, Engines 5-1-1, 5-1-2, QRS 5-1, Medic 7-7-9.  Additional information reported 1 vehicle off the road down the railroad embankment and subject fleeing the scene.  QRS 5-1 caught up with 2 individuals on Lamparter Rd for treatment and transport by medic 7-7-9 while Engine 5-1-1 & 5-1-2 secured the vehicle. Click here for the Lancaster Newspaper article. at 16:16 Engine 5-1-2 went available and was requested to assist Station 5-7 Quarryville FC on a dwelling at 29 Buttermilk Ln in Colerain Township.  Engine 5-1-2 held in manpower staging and returned a short time later.

Another Vehicle Accident in the Village of Green Tree, Hit and Run

5/3/2010 - 18:04 - Intersection Georgetown Rd & Valley Rd, in the Village of Green Tree, Bart Township, vehicle accident. Engine 5-1-1 arrived to find 1 damaged, disabled & abandoned vehicle at the North 896-372 intersection. They were then advised from bystanders that 3 occupants fled and that it was a hit and run accident that occurred in Greentree. Units then proceeded South to the Greentree intersection to find 1 minivan overturned with 3 injuries. Engine 5-1-1 & 5-1-2 controlled fluids and roadway debris while QRS 5-1, Ambulance 5-2-1 handled patient care.  Click here for the Lancaster Newspaper article. later that evening 21:54 Squad 5-1 was dispatched back to the accident scene with 2 thermal imaging cameras to assist PA State Police in searching for 3 individuals that fled.

5/2/2010 - 13:29 - Intersection Georgetown Rd & Valley Rd, in the Village of Green Tree, Bart Township, vehicle accident with possible entrapment class 1.  Deputy 5-1 (Graybill) arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident, negative entrapment with 3 patients. Engine 5-1-1 controlled fluids and roadway debris while QRS 5-1, Ambulance 5-2-1 and Medic 6 handled patient care.

4/27/2010 - 18:04 - 217 E. State St. Quarryville Borough, Standby-Transfer Station 5-7 Quarryville FC, Engine 5-1-1 and Christiana FC Tanker 5-2-2. Quarryville units along with Rawlinsville, Robert Fulton & Willow Street were working a dwelling fire at 694 Deaver Rd in East Drumore Township.  Standby units were released at 17:37 hours. Animal Rescue and a Woodshed Fire

4/17/2010 - 11:02 - 524 Mt. Pleasant Rd, Bart Township, Public Service cow in manure pit.  Engine 5-1-1 w/8 arrived with the cow sling. A call was placed to FF Brian Herr who retrieved the Bart Township municipal loader for assistance. The cow was successfully rescued, cleaned up and sent back out to pasture. 18:02 - 501 Furnace Rd, Eden Township, Dwelling, Station 5-1, Station 5-7 Quarryville FC.full co., Station 5-2 Christiana FC for tanker & Station 4-2 Gap FC for rescue. Chief 5-1 (King) arrived to find a detached 10x20 shed fully involved. The assignment was held to stations 5-1 & 5-7. Engine 5-1-1 pulled the bumper line and 5-1 & 5-7 crews worked on overhaul.

Busy Saturday, Scheduled Standby Alert FC and Monthly Breakfast

4/10/2010 07:00 - Engine/Rescue 5-1-1 with 8, Quarryville FC Engine 5-7-4 & Gap FC Truck 4-2 traveled to Chester County Station 45 Alert FC of Downingtown for an all day standby while Downingtown members had an all day mandatory county training and a water rescue training scheduled.  We were met by Deputy Chief Nelms, who was our duty officer for the day, gave us a tour of the station. Crews ran 1 vehicle accident and 2 automatic fire alarms while on standby.  Also, Bart Twp Fire Co. members served of 400 patrons during our monthly all you can eat breakfast.  Thanks to everyone who came on the standby and helped at the breakfast.

Engine 5-1-1's crew assisted 5-7 with checking for extension & ventilation.  3/27/2010 17:00 - Engine 5-1-1 w/8 relocated to Station 5-7 Quarryville FC. while there member spent the evening at there annual awards banquet. 3/28/2010 01:03 - Intersection Clover Hill Rd & Lancaster Ave Bart Township, Vehicle Accident. Chief 5-1 arrived to find 1 vehicle on it's side and the occupant fled the scene on foot. Engine crew stabilized the vehicle and cleared the roadway of debris.  3/28/2010 12:41 - Intersection Bell Rd & Maple Shade Rd, Colerain Township, Vehicle Accident unknown injuries. Assist Christiana FC on Working Industrial Building Fire

3/19/2010 13:52 - 117 Lower Valley Rd, Sadsbury Township, Valley Run Woodworks, Building Industrial, assist Station 5-2 Christiana FC.  Engine 5-1-1 responded 2 minutes after dispatch and LCWC-911 advised the caller reported a diesel shop on fire. Engine 5-1-1 was 1st to arrive reporting a working detached diesel shop fire impinging on the structure.  Engine 5-1-1 went into service with the bumper line to protect the exposure woodshop and an 1-3/4" hand line to attack the fire building.  Engine 5-2-1 arrived and ran another line to the backside of the fire building.  Tankers 5-1-1& 5-1-2 supplied Engine 5-1-1. Captain 5-2-2 (Wallace) arrived and established command. Truck 4-2 crew went to the roof to check for extension while remaining crews opened up the side of the building. Crews headed off the fire before it spread into the woodshop. Engine 5-1-2 setup a draft site on Brick Mill Road at the creek.  Great stop by all crews.

More snow, high winds.......  Snow Removal Assistance from the Sale Grounds

2/26/2010 - With only several inches in this snowfall, the sustained winds and gusts up to 45 mph made for white out and drifting conditions.  Two public service calls for stranded motorists were handled during the snowfall.

3/1/2010 -  After almost 4 feet of snow fell so far this year, we enlisted the help of the local municipal township road crews from Bart, Colerain, Eden & Sadsbury Townships.  Workers supplied dump trucks and front end loaders to remove snow from the sale grounds in preparation for our 46th Annual All Day Sale this Saturday. Special thanks to these townships for assisting us with our largest fundraiser of the year.

2/10/2010 Blizzard of 2010.  Fire & EMS crews staffed the station in anticipation of the oncoming blizzard conditions the meteorologists were predicting.  Over 2 feet of snow fell, accompanied by wind gusts up to 45 mph pounded the area for 24 hours. Most municipal road crews pulled workers off the roads. Several calls for service were handled during the storm.  02/10/2010 03:52: QRS 5-1, Ambulance 5-2-1 & Medic 6,  medical emergency on Noble Rd, 11:58 - Tanker 5-1-1 assist station 5-9 Refton FC on a working commercial building fire at 329 Brenneman Rd, Strasburg Township, 19:13 164 Fairview Rd, Bart Township public service assist Station Station 5-7 Quarryville FC  recalled, 02/11/2010 05:23- Intersection of Valley Rd (Route 372) & Mt. Pleasant Rd, Bart Township, Engines 5-1-1, 5-1-2, Rescue 5-7 & Medic 7-7-9, vehicle accident with entrapment. A tri-axle dump truck plowing 372 ran off road into a telephone pole and flipped onto it's side.  Luckily the driver was not injured. 5-1 crews remained on-scene for 5 1/2 hours assisting PP&L & Null's Towing of Cochranville with traffic control & unloaded the cinders from the dump bed. 12:42 - 4500 White Oak Rd, Paradise Township, public service, clear snow from a mobile home roof.  Special thanks to the in station crews for keeping the entranceways cleared and to Bart Township road crew for plowing & cindering the station parking lot & to FF Brian Herr/winter Bart Twp loader driver for storing the V-Plow in the station to clear the way for the emergency calls. A day after the storm many roads still remain closed in Bart, Eden, Colerain and Sadsbury Townships due to intense drifting.  The ground hog may have said spring is just around the corner... but he didn't say which corner :-)

Round 1  - February Snowstorm Bears Down on Southern End

2/5 & 2/6/2010 This weekends snowstorm dumped over 2 feet of snow over the SOLANCO (Southern Lancaster County) region.  Crews slept over at the station from Friday night until lunchtime Sunday.  Several calls for service occurred during the snowstorm.   2/6/2010 00:40 - 1138 Georgetown Rd, birth care center assist ambulance with patient access, 09:04 164 Fairview Rd, Bart Township assist Station Station 5-7 Quarryville FC  snow removal from mobile home chimney, 2/6/2010 09:40 - Heyberger Rd, QRS, medical emergency. Busy Weekend for Volunteers, Public Service, Standby, 2 Dwelling Fires, CO Alarm

1/29/2010 15:24 - Intersection of Heyberger Rd & Wilson Rd, Bart Township, public service, assist with a horse down in a creek after after an accident. Unfortunately, the horse succumbed to his injuries and drowned in the creek. 1/30/2010 12:31 - Standby Transfer Engine 5-1-1 Chester County Station 29 Pomeroy FC.while area units were working a multi-alarm dwelling fire.  Engine 5-1-1 with 8 made the trip to Pomeroy and at 13:34 were alerted to the fire scene for manpower at 37 Lyons Way, East Fallowfield Township.

1/30/2010 23:28 - 352 Bell Rd, Colerain Township, Chimney, Station 5-1 & Station 5-7 Quarryville FC for truck 5-7. Shortly after Chief 5-1-2 (Woerth) went enroute, LCWC advised they were upgrading the assignment to a dwelling, the residents now see visible fire from the exterior walls. The upgrade added Station 5-7 Quarryville FC full company, Chester Station 21 Union FC of Oxford for Engine, Tanker & Truck, Chester Station 27 Cochranville FC for Engine 27-1 & SVEMS for an ambulance.  Chief 5-1-2 arrived with heavy smoke from the bravo side and was met by Caption 5-1-2 (Hershey) advising the fire advanced to the 1st & 2nd floor walls and 2nd floor decking.  Engine 5-1-1 ran 2 lines interior and 1 exterior.  Engine 5-1-2 laid 500 ft. of LDH supply line back the lane which was supplied by tankers 5-1-1 & 5-1-2.  Tower 5-7 setup to the roof and laddered side bravo.  5-1, 5-7 & 21 crews removed interior 1st & 2nd floor walls and flooring, as well as the siding & plywood outside the chimney structure to extinguish the fire. The incident was placed under control at 00:30. Crews performed overhaul and assisted the homeowner with boarding up the structure.  Thanks to all crews that came out in the snow covered 15 degree night. Also thanks to Gap FC Engine 4-2-2 for providing the engine company standby at Station 5-1. 1/31/2010 12:56 - 88 Lamparter Rd, Bart Township, CO Alarm, Engine 5-1-1. Crews checked an activated CO alarm.

1/16/2010 10:43 - 4746 White Oak Rd, Bart Township, dwelling, Station 5-1, Station 4-2 Gap FC,Engine, Truck, Rescue, Station 4-7 Paradise FC Engine 4-7-1, Station 5-2 Christiana FC 2 tankers,  Station 5-7 Quarryville FC rescue. Deputy 5-1 (Graybill) arrived with light smoke showing from a 2 story dwelling.  The homeowner left the draft on the woodstove open causing high heat conditions which ignited the wall & studs on fire. Luckily, the homeowner knocked the fire quickly with an extinguisher.  5-1 crews opened up the walls to check for extension while Truck 4-2 crews used fans to ventilate the structure.  All other units were recalled from the assignment.

1/8/2010 07:19 - 1585 Georgetown Rd, Bart Township, vehicle accident, vehicle into a telephone pole due to slick snowy road conditions, minor injury. 1/9/2010 09:37 - 1822 Georgetown Rd, Colerain Township, Chimney, station 5-1 and Station 5-7 Quarryville FC for Truck 5-7. Crews worked on removing smoke pipe liner from the chimney  1/9/2010 19:28 - Engine 5-1-1 relocated Station 4-2 Gap FC while they assist Station 4-9 White Horse FC on a fatal dwelling fire on Cambridge Road.  1/9/2010 23:44 - Inter. Georgetown Rd & Noble Rd, Bart Township, vehicle accident, a vehicle ran off the road and up onto a telephone pole guide wire, no injuries.  Also, Saturday members helped serve our monthly all you can eat breakfast.
