Minor MVA involving horse & buggy 6/27/2008 15:03 - Intersection of Georgetown Rd & S. Belmont Rd, Paradise Township, vehicle accident involving a horse & buggy, Engine 5-1-1, QRS 5-1 & Medic 6-12-10. Engine 5-1-1 arrived, controlled vehicle hazards. QRS 5-1 & Medic 6-12-10 performed patient evaluations. Units cleared at 15:55. |

Vehicle Rescue Training at Station 5-1 6/18/2008 - The company is hosting a PA Department of Health vehicle rescue training class at the station. This is a 3 module 48 hour class. Module 1 basic vehicle rescue awareness 16 hours, module 2 basic vehicle operations 16 hours, module 3 basic vehicle rescue technician 16 hours. Firefighters are now working on the final Module 3. Station 5-1 has 8 members enrolled in the class along with members from Station 3-9 Liberty FC, Station 4-3 Gordonville FC and Station 5-8 Rawlinsville FC. Special thanks to instructor Bob Devonshire (Strasburg FC, Deputy) and Quarryville FC Rescue 5-7.

Farm Rescue 6/9/2008 06:37 - 281 Christiana Pike, Sadsbury Township, Farm Rescue, Station 5-1, Gap Rescue 4-2, Ambulance 5-2-1 and Medic 7-7-9. Chief 5-1-2 (Graybill) went enroute and was advised by LCWC the caller saw an Amish boy stuck under a cultipacker in the field and the cell phone cut off. The second call reported the subject up walking around & bleeding. Chief 5-1 arrived, updated the location and recalled Rescue 4-2. The patient was transported to a local hospital by EMS. |

Gas Leak Assist Christiana FC 6/8/2008 10:28 - 613 Noble Rd, Sadsbury Township, Gas Leak, Engine 5-1-1 assist Station 5-2 Christiana FC & Gap Rescue 4-2 and Ambulance 5-2-1. Chief 5-1-2 (Graybill) & Chief 4-2 (Kurtz) arrived to find 2 LP tanks actively leaking. Station 5-1 FF Shaub found a hose that was used to fill spare cylinders leaking. He controlled the situation by shutting off a valve under the tank. Engine 5-1-1 arrived and ventilated the nearby dwelling. Deputy 5-2 (Reimold) placed the situation under control and held the assignment to the units on scene. Units cleared at 10:46.

Tanker 5-1-1 Attends 88th Annual Lancaster Co. Fireman's
Association Parade and Engine 5-1-1 runs as Standby Engine/Rescue for
Strasburg for the day. 6-7-2008 - Tanker 5-1-1 traveled to Strasburg to participate in the LCFA parade hosted by Station 5-10 Strasburg Fire Company. Engine 5-1-1 handled 2 calls while on standby for Station 5-10. 15:10 Vehicle accident involving a motorcycle in Strasburg Township at the intersection of Fairview & North Starr Roads, 17:11 Spill control after a vehicle accident, Strasburg Borough, 1 E Main St. Thanks to Station 5-10 for there hospitality and hosting of the parade. ** Click here to view an Apple-QuickTime Video of Tanker 5-1-1 leaving after the parade.**(11 MB)

Engine 5-1-1 Transfer to Union FC of
Oxford then off to Cecil County 5/28/2008 06:24 - Engine 5-1-1 with a crew of 8, under the direction of Deputy Chief LeFevre, relocated to Chester County Station 21 Union Fire Co .No.1 of Oxford. When Engine 5-1-1 arrived on location at station 21, Chester Fireboard redirected them to the fire scene for manpower at 372 Harrisville Rd on a working dwelling fire assisting Cecil County Station 8 Rising Sun FC. Busy Weekend Friday night started off with the annual fire company banquet. Around, 10 am on Saturday morning, over 50 corvettes arrived at the station from the Maryland Corvette club. The club stopped by to present the fire company with a banner for our involvement in the Nickel Mines School Shooting incident. President John Whiteside Jr. accepted the banner.
This past weekend Tanker 5-1-1 was on display through Glick Fire Equipment and Pierce Manufacturing at the 2008 Annual Lancaster County Fireman's Association Fire Expo held in Harrisburg at the Farm Show Complex.
05/18/2008 02:23 - Engine 5-1-1 transfer Chester County Station 21 Union Fire Co.No.1 of Oxford. Station 21 was out on a working shed fire in Elk Township. 03:58 - Engine 5-1-1 was requested to setup a landing zone at the Oxford Area School District at Fifth & Garfield streets. Station 21 EMS requested a helicopter for a trauma patient. Also on Saturday, Engine 5-1-1 provided a 2nd shift scheduled standby from 15:00 - 19:30 hours for Station 21 Union Fire Co .No.1 of Oxford. so there members could attend an all day training in West Chester & graduation party for one of there members. |

Banquet 2008 The Bart Township Fire Company held it's Annual Banquet at the Revere Tavern in Paradise Friday, May 16th, 2008. Multiple awards were presented as listed below with pictures. Much fun and fellowship was had by all. The Special Division (Ladies Auxiliary) presented the Fire Company with a check for $20,000.00 President's Award - Ken Klaassen presented by President John T. Whiteside Jr (Whitey) Chief's Award - Aaron R. Glick presented by Chief H. Curtis Woerth II Fireman of the Year - David D. King Voted on by secret ballot by the membership. Also top 10 responder awards for Firefighters and top 6 responder awards for QRS personnel were presented. Special thanks to Quarryville Fire Co. Engine 5-7-2 for providing an engine company transfer for the banquet.
