A new engine is headed to Station 51!
Sat, Apr 25th, 2020 9:00:00 pm - In late spring of 2018, the Officers and Members of the Bart Township Fire Company decided that it was time to begin looking into replacement options for Engine 51-1, as well as the various rescue tools on this piece. Some of the rescue tools date back to the 1990's and even some to the 1980's, making repair and replacement parts hard or impossible to locate.
A five member committee was started to begin the process of replacing Engine 51-1 as well as its complement of rescue tools. Through countless hours of research and numerous meetings by the committee, Engine 51-1's replacement was designed and a contract was signed in early November 2019 for the purchase of a 2020 Pierce Enforcer Rescue Pumper.
Today, we got our first production report on the start of the building process for the new Engine 51-1, with pictures included below. We expect a mid- to late June completion date for 51-1.
Additionally, new Holmatro battery operated vehicle rescue tools and stabilization equipment were purchased and delivered in March to complement the new engine.
The Bart Township Fire Company is excited to take delivery of the new Engine 51-1 to continue to provide the fire and rescue services that our community deserves.
Another post with information about the current Engine 51-1 will be posted in the coming days.
