It is with deep regret the Bart Township Fire Company announces the passing of Life Member and past Fire Chief Donald K. Mowrer
Thu, Mar 7th, 2019 12:00:00 am - It is with deep regret the Bart Township Fire Company announces the passing of Donald K. Mowrer. Don passed away on Wednesday, March 6th at the age of 77.

Don joined the company in 1959 and served faithfully for 60 years. He was a life member, Fire "Chief 5-1" from
1977 – 1986 and served in various line officer and administrative positions. Don also served as Chief of Police "37-1" for Bart Township and as a PA constable for many years.

Funeral service will take place from the Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, PA, on Tuesday, March 12th at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in the Georgetown Methodist Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the Shivery Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Bart Twp. Fire Co to the Georgetown United Methodist Church.

Donald K. Mowrer, age 77, of Paradise, PA, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. He was the husband of Ruth Ann Johnson Mowrer, with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage on June 25th. He was born in Paradise, son of the late Kenneth & Evelyn Stetler Mowrer. He was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church. In the past Don worked as a salesman for Liberty Homes of Leola and then served as Chief of Police for Bart Township for many years. He was still serving as a Constable. He enjoyed working at Cherry Crest Farm, taking care of the petting zoo. He graduated from Pequea Valley High School class of 1959. He was a life member of the Bart Township Fire Company, where in the past he served as Chief and in various other positions. He enjoyed listening to southern gospel and bluegrass music, traveling, camping, going to Dollywood, Pittsburgh Steelers and most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Surviving besides his wife are 2 sons: Darryl K. husband of Nicolette Segro Mowrer of Lancaster, Darren K. Mowrer of Paradise, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brother Ronald L. husband of Pat Stauffer Mowrer of Paradise.
