Junior Firefighters LeFevre & Woerth Receive 8th Grade Awards at Ceremony
6/10/2010 - Tonight junior firefighters Eric LeFevre & John Curtis Woerth were recognized at the 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony at the George A. Smith Middle School. Eric received the following awards: Broadcasting Award, Presidential Athlete Award, Honor Society & Honor Roll and John Curtis received the following awards: Solanco Expectation Award, Honor Roll, Student Senate, Stream Project Recognition, Pride Gold Team, Pride Ambassador. Both are looking forward to this fall when they become freshman at Solanco High School.
Tanker 5-1-1 Wins 2 Trophies at the 90th Annual LCFA Parade & Convention
6/5/2009 - Station 3-1 Bareville FC & Station 3-11 Upper Leacock FC joint hosted the 90th Annual LCFA (Lancaster County Firemans Association) convention and parade. Bart crews spent several days and long nights cleaning up Tanker 5-1-1 for parade judging. Tanker 5-1-1 won 1st place for Best Appearing Tanker 1,800 - 3,000 gallons and the Pierce Manufacturers Trophy. Thanks to all who helped clean up and keep the 5-1 parade tradition alive.

Engine 5-1-1 Participates in Make A Wish Foundation Truck Convoy
5/9/2019 - On Sunday May 9th, FF/EMT/QRS Coordinator Mike Hoover, wife EMT Deb Hoover and son Travis took Engine 5-1-1 to the 21st Annual Make A Wish Mother's Day Truck Convoy. More than 400 trucks drive along a parade route to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation. Engine 5-1-1 carried a Make A Wish Foundation child and family on board for the parade route.
Assistant Chief David "King Dave" King Ties the Knot
11/28/2009 10:00 -Today Assistant Chief David King and Lydiann Glick-King were married at the Spring Garden Church in White Horse. Family and friends gathered to witness a beautiful wedding and reception. Congratulations to the both of you and may you have many years of happiness together. Dave and Lydiann will reside in Bart Township after a honeymoon trip to sunny Mexico. Thanks to Quarryville FC Engine 5-7-2 for providing standby coverage during the wedding.
Hazel pictured with some of her great and great-great grandchildren.
Born on June 26, 1909, Hazel was a founding member of the Ladies auxiliary. She served as Chaplain for many years. Hazel's husband the late George K. Woerth was a September 24, 1946 Bart Township Fire Company charter member. Hazel lived on a century old farm on White Oak Rd until she moved to the Country View Manor nursing home at the Buck. Hazel had 2 sons H. Curtis "Buzz" & Kern, who both joined the fire company, as well as their children, grand children & great grandchildren. Tanker 5-1-1 Wins Best Appearing Tanker (1,800-3,000 gal.) at LCFA Parade
6/6/2009 - Quarryville Fire Company hosted the 89th Annual LCFA (Lancaster County Firemans Association) convention and parade. Bart crews spent several days and long nights cleaning up Tanker 5-1-1 for parade judging. Tanker 5-1-1 won 1st place for the Best Appearing and Equipped Tanker 1,800 - 3,000 gallons. Engines 5-1-1 & 5-1-2 participated in the parade but were not judged. Thanks to all members who helped clean up and to Chester County Station 36 Po-Mar-Lin FC of Unionville for the engine standby.

It's a Girl !!!
6/4/2009 - Congratulations to Captain 5-1-2 Kevin Kreider & wife Shannon on the birth of there daughter Karleigh Anne. Karleigh was born at 7:00 am at the Lancaster Women's and Babies hospital. She weighed 6 lb 8 oz and was 19" long. Both dad and mom are doing fine. Kevin and Shannon also have a daughter Emileigh 2 years old.

6/19/2009 - The Bart Township Fire Company would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Robert Sauder of Willow Street. Bob passed away from a painful battle with cancer. Bob previously served as Fire Chief of the Willow Street Fire Company and worked as service manager/technician at Glick Fire Equipment. Bob was a great friend to our fire company, as well as a personal friend to many of us. Please keep his wife Erma, children & great grandchildren in your thoughts and prayers.

Scheduled Standby for West Grove Fire Company
04/11/2009 06:30 - While serving our annual monthly breakfast, 8 members took Engine 5-1-1 down to Chester County Station 22 West Grove Fire Company for a rescue standby for the day. The West Grove members traveled to the West Chester fire school for an all day burn class. Engine 5-1-1 met up with our neighbors to the west, Quarryville Fire Co. Engine 5-7-4. Crews lounged around, played pool and socialized. The crews ran a vehicle accident at Newark & London Tract Roads and a medical assist on Jackson St. while on standby. Thanks to Chief 22 Robert Weer for the invite.
Rescue/Engine 5-1-1 Provides Banquet Standby for Quarryville FC Volunteers
3/28/2009 17:00 - 217 E. State St, Quarryville Borough. Engine 5-1-1 with a crew of 8, under the direction of Deputy 5-1 (Graybill), arrived at Station 5-7 Quarryville. Dolce Vita Pizza at the Buck supplied the food for the evening. Members played pool, ping pong and socialized. At 22:45, the Commercial Building Box was struck to assist Station 5-12 Willow Street FC at the Weis Markets, at 2600 Willow Street Pike in West Lampeter Township. This brought in Engine 5-1-1, Tower and Rescue 5-7. Units staged in the parking lot and were released shortly after arrival. Thanks to Pop Tucker & Steve Hastings for repairing Engine 5-1-1's transmission wiring connector that broke when an exhaust clamp snapped off on the ride to Willow Street.
Chief Billy Goldfeder Stops by the Station to Visit
After the sale, Chief Billy Goldfeder stopped by the station to visit with the members while he was in town. Billy was teaching an all day "Everybody Goes Home" seminar at the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center. Billy chatted with the members, took a few pictures of the new tanker, toured the firehouse and mud sale grounds.

Rescue/Engine 5-1-1 Provides Banquet Standby for Willow Street FC
2/23/2009 15:26 - 2901 Willow Street Pike N, West Lampeter Township, Station 5-12 Willow Street FC. Engine 5-1-1 with a crew of 8, under the direction of Chief 5-1-2 (King Dave), made the journey to Willow Street. Crews met up with Station 4-2 Gap FC who supplied the truck transfer for the evening. Crews provided standby coverage so Willow Street FC members could enjoy an evening off at there annual awards banquet. 15:19 the Engine was dispatched to assist EMS for an environmental rescue but was recalled while enroute. Crews cleared at 00:51 hours.
FF Larry Lucarino receives Mayors Award at Millersville FC Banquet
02/07/2009 - Congratulations to FF Larry Lucarino on receiving the Millersville Fire Companies "Mayors Award" at there annual banquet held this past Saturday. Larry served as Captain of the Millersville Fire Company before he moved to the area in August of 2008 with his wife Mary and son Frank. Larry joined the Bart Township Fire Company in September of 2008. Larry is a tremendous asset, especially in the area of membership training. Congrats Larry.
The Ancient Order of Croaking Frogs presents a $5,000.00 donation
12/10/2008 - Today, The Ancient Order of Croaking Frogs presented a check in the amount of $5,000.00 to the Bart Township Fire Company. The Frogs have been very generous over the past 5 years with there donations to local volunteer fire companies and ambulance associations. The Ancient Order of Croaking Frogs is a private, non-profit, social organization located at 300 S. Park Ave in Quarryville. Thanks for your donation.
George LeFevre steps out after 18 years as a line officer, leader and mentor
12/8/2008 - Tonight the Bart Township Fire Company held it's annual election of administrative and fire line offices for 2009. Click here to see the 2009 officers. George LeFevre stepped out as Deputy Chief after serving in the position for the past 4 years. George joined the company as a junior firefighter in 1984 and worked his way up the ranks. Previously, George served in every rank; Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain & Lieutenant. George has plans to spend time with his wife Jodi and sons Eric & Brandon (aka "Yonnie"). George will be coaching a lot of baseball this coming year and plans on driving the new Tanker 5-1-1 for which he served as committee chairman. George will be serving this year as the Deputy Chief's aide. Below are some candid pic's of George :-) Thanks George!
Tanker 5-1-1 and Members Join Up at National Fallen Firefighters Benefit
9/27/2008 - After the Farm Machinery Entanglement class, several members headed up to Your Place (YP) Restaurant on Route 30. YP was sponsoring a benefit for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF). The event included lots of food, a dodge ball tournament and several bands. Several raffles were held including one for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with all profits going to the foundation. Tanker 5-1-1 was present representing Glick Fire Equipment Inc. along with salesman/Chief 5-1 Curt "Hen" Woerth. A good time and fellowship was had by all despite the rain.
Member Liz Glick Gets Married
9/13/2008 - Today members were invited to attend the wedding of EMT Elizabeth "Lizzie" Glick. Liz is the daughter of Vice President/Chief Engineer Levi K. Glick and Special Division Secretary Sarah Glick. Liz married Daniel Crandall of Lancaster. Congratulations Dan & Lizzie from the members of the Bart Township Fire Company.

Annual Chicken Bar-B-Que & Community Yard Sale Held
8/2/2008 - The company held it's Annual Chicken Bar-B-Que & Community Yard Sale this past Saturday. Some members gathered very early in the morning to light the charcoal pits for chicken grilling. Other members started their old time homemade ice cream machines. Tables were setup for rent in the banquet rooms & engine bays for community members to setup yard stands. At 09:45 Engine 5-1-1 and a crew of 6 handled a spill control after a motor vehicle accident at Route 372 & 896 in the village of Green Tree. Thanks to all who came out and helped for the day.

3rd Annual Car Cruise
6/20/2008 - The company held it's 3rd Annual Car Cruise Friday night. Over 45 cars participated in the event. A disc Jockey played the oldies, door prizes were given away and food was supplied by the Special Division.
Tanker 5-1-1 Attends 88th Annual Lancaster Co. Fireman's Association Parade and Engine 5-1-1 runs as Standby Engine/Rescue for Strasburg for the day.
6-7-2008 - Tanker 5-1-1 traveled to Strasburg to participate in the LCFA parade hosted by Station 5-10 Strasburg Fire Company. Engine 5-1-1 handled 2 calls while on standby for Station 5-10. 15:10 Vehicle accident involving a motorcycle in Strasburg Township at the intersection of Fairview & North Starr Roads, 17:11 Spill control after a vehicle accident, Strasburg Borough, 1 E Main St. Thanks to Station 5-10 for there hospitality and hosting of the parade.

Busy Weekend
May 16th 2008, Friday night started off with the annual fire company banquet. Around, 10 am on Saturday morning, over 50 corvettes arrived at the station from the Maryland Corvette club. The club stopped by to present the fire company with a banner for our involvement in the Nickel Mines School Shooting incident. President John Whiteside Jr. accepted the banner.
This past weekend Tanker 5-1-1 was on display through Glick Fire Equipment and Pierce Manufacturing at the 2008 Annual Lancaster County Fireman's Association Fire Expo held in Harrisburg at the Farm Show Complex.
05/18/2008 02:23 - Engine 5-1-1 transfer Chester County Station 21 Union Fire Co.No.1 of Oxford. Station 21 was out on a working shed fire in Elk Township. 03:58 - Engine 5-1-1 was requested to setup a landing zone at the Oxford Area School District at Fifth & Garfield streets. Station 21 EMS requested a helicopter for a trauma patient. Also on Saturday, Engine 5-1-1 provided a 2nd shift scheduled standby from 15:00 - 19:30 hours for Station 21 Union Fire Co .No.1 of Oxford. so there members could attend an all day training in West Chester & graduation party for one of there members.
5/11/2008 - Several members took Engine 5-1-1 and Tanker 5-1-1 up to take part in the 19th annual Mother's Day truck convoy, which raises funds for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. More than 400 trucks drive along Route 222.
Rescue/Engine 5-1-1 Provides Banquet Standby for Willow Street FC
3/22/2008 15:30 - 2901 Willow Street Pike N, West Lampeter Township, Station 5-12 Willow Street FC. Engine 5-1-1 with a crew of 8 under the direction of LT. 5-1-1 (King Dave) made the journey to Willow Street. Crews provided standby coverage so Willow Street members could enjoy an evening off at there annual awards banquet. Crews lounged around and ate dinner at Willow Valley Restaurant. No call for service were answered and crews returned at 00:30 hours.
Engine Company Standby for Chester Heights Station 71
3/10/2008 16:18 - Engine 5-1-1 with a crew of 7 and Chief Woerth onboard headed for Station 71 Chester Heights Fire Company in Delaware County, PA. Engine 5-1-1 covered the area while Chester Heights members attended a viewing for Lt. Nick Picozzi of the Lower Chichester Fire Company. Lt. Picozzi succumbed to injuries he received while fighting a house fire on 3/5/2008. Crews handled 1 call for service. At 17:25 hours crews handled a vehicle fire at 222 Llewellyn Rd in Chester Heights Borough. Crews ate dinner, lounged around and returned to Station 5-1 at 20:51 hours.
Crews Clean Up Tanker 5-1 for Parade
10/13/2007 - Today Tanker 5-1 traveled to Boothwyn, Delaware County to help celebrate the Reliance Hook and Ladder Company’s 75th Anniversary and Parade. The crew spent the last two weeks preparing the Tanker for the parade. The hard work, dedication, teamwork and many long nights really paid-off . Tanker 5-1 won Best Appearing Tanker & Unit traveling the farthest distance. Parade Crew Lt. Dave King, FF/EMT Ivan Stolzfus, FF/EMT Jonathan Zook and Chief Engineer Levi K. Glick.
Quarryville Fire Company Golf Outing
10/12/2007 - Today several members and neighboring officers attended the Quaryville Fire Companies Golf Outing held at the Tanglewood Manor Golf Course. Chief 5-1, Curt "Hen" Woerth, President Emeritus, H. "Curtis Buzz" Woerth, Gap Fire Co Chief 4-2 Brad Kurtz and Caption 4-2 Chris Beiler. The foursome finished in 3rd place for the day with a wining score of 71.

Engine 5-1-1 Leaves for Repairs
10/15/2007 - Tonight crews removed everything from Engine 5-1-1. Engine 1 will be out of service for some corrosion repair and body work at Gordon's Auto Body in Stewartstown, York County for several weeks. Chief Engineer Levi K. Glick has been kind enough to lend us his pickup truck to haul the Amkus rescue tools, SCBA, hand tools, fans etc. Thanks Levi.

9/22/2007 - This past Saturday, a crew headed out in Tanker 5-1 to York City to make one last appearance at the PA State Fireman's Convention. Crews cleaned the old girl up one last time. Thanks to everyone that helped.

First Responders Appreciation Ceremony at Calvary Monument Bible Church
9/16/2007 - Tonight the Calvary Monument Bible Church invited all of the first responder Fire and EMS organizations in their community to a special presentation at the church. Pastor Robert Reid thanked all of the first responders for their tireless efforts in serving the community. The first responders joined in prayers, hymn's and songs. Special Congressional guest speakers were also invited. PA House of Representative's present 100th District - Bryan Cutler, 99th District - Gordon Denlinger , 13th District - Art Hershey. and U.S. House of Representative 16th District - Joseph R. Pitts. After the ceremony, everyone was invited into the social hall for refreshments.

Lancaster County Fire Chiefs Association Golf Tournament
7/20/2007 - Chief 5-1 (Woerth) played in a foursome golf tournament today. The event was held at the Fox Chase Golf Course and hosted by the LCFCA - Lancaster County FIre Chief's Association. Chief Woerth's team sponsored by Glick Fire Equipment Inc. consisted of Matt Woerth owner of Whitelock & Woerth Inc, neighboring Chief Randy Buckwalter and Deputy Chief Sonny Reimold of the Christiana Fire Company.

Ancient Order of Croaking Frogs Makes Donation 07/17/2006 - Chief Woerth was invited along with other local fire company rep's to a steak dinner at the Ancient Order of Croaking Frog's in Quarryville for a steak dinner. The "Frogs" presented the Bart Township Fire Company with a $5,000.00 donation. Thanks. |

Volleyball Tournament hosted by Refton Fire Company

Make-A-Wish Foundation Convoy
5/14/2006 - Several members took Engine 5-1-1 up to the annual Make-A-Wish Foundation trucker convoy on Route 222. The crew had a Make-A-Wish Foundation child and family ride along in the convoy parade.

Engine 5-1-1 and Fire Police attend Local Marine's Military Funeral
05/05/2006 Corporal Brandon Hardy of the United States Marine Corps, a Cochranville native, was killed on April 28th in Iraq. A procession moved Hardy's body from Wilde's Funeral Home on Main Street in Parkesburg to Calvary Monument Church. The procession route had a police escort along Strasburg Road and Mine Road. Friends in the community lined part of the route to pay their respects. Engine 5-1-1 closed off an intersection and fire police provided crowd and traffic control.
New Years Eve Celebration at the Firehouse
12/31/2005 19:30 - 11 Furnace Rd, Bart Township. Members and their families came out to the firehouse for our Annual New Years Eve fest. Lots of great food was prepared. Thanks to all that came out for the night. May all of you have a Happy and Fire Safe New Year in 2006.

Union-Oxford Fire Company Housing Parade
10/8/2005 - Chad Graybill & Jonathan Zook headed out in Tanker 5-1 through the remnants of Tropical Storm Tammy to Oxford Fire Companies Housing Parade. They housed Engine 21-1 a 2005 Pierce Dash, Ambulance 21, Tanker 21 & Squad 21. Congrats to the neighbors at Station 21 on their new rigs. Thanks for the "Southside Pride" hospitality at the evening social.

Christiana Fire Company Housing Parade
8/27/2005 - The members spent 2 weeks cleaning up all the apparatus to head out to Christiana Station 5-2's housing parade for Engine 5-2-1 & Tanker 5-2-2. Congrats to all members that helped clean up. Despite the pouring down rain and re-cleaning the apparatus 3 times, thankfully the sun came out for the housing dedication. Congrats to the neighbors at Station 5-2 on their new Pierce rigs.
