Just after 11am Monday morning, BTFC and mutual aid were dispatched to the unit block of Shady Road in Bart Township for a barn fire. Initial reports were of a trash fire that had spread to a nearby barn.
Engine 51-2 arrived and confirmed the report, but thankfully the fire had only melted the exterior siding of the nearby barn. Crews checked the interior of the barn for fire extension and found none, so the assignment was held to BTFC units and Quarryville Fire Company Tower and Tanker 57. Crews also worked to knock down the trash fire and cool the exterior of the barn before clearing.
This was the first call getting to use our new Mercedes hose, and the first call of Mud Sale week.
